Jack Schiffman's law practice is diverse
with an expertise in tax matters, business formations/operations, wills
trusts and estate planning.
Mr.
Schiffman's tax expertise is extensive, compromising federal and state
income tax, federal employment tax, sales tax and property tax matters.
Mr. Schiffman developed his expertise as an experienced sales tax
practitioner, both inside and outside of government, as an attorney in
private practice and as an attorney representing the IRS, the Arizona
Department of Revenue and Maricopa County in the state and federal courts
of Arizona.
Mr. Schiffman has
represented numerous clients in resolving audit and collection problems
with the IRS, the Arizona Department of Revenue, local taxing authorities
and other states' taxing authorities, both administratively and in the
federal and state courts.
Mr.
Schiffman's practice also assists business owners in the formation of
limited liability companies and corporations, negotiation of
buy-sell agreements, covenants not to compete and financing arrangements.
He also represents business clients in mergers, acquisitions and
dissolutions.
Another focus of Mr.
Schiffman's practice is estate planning with an emphasis on minimizing the
client's exposure to estate taxes through creative planning and drafting
of innovative wills, trusts (grantor, life insurance and charitable
trusts) and other testamentary instruments to accommodate his clients
objectives.
Mr. Schiffman, a
member of the Arizona and Missouri Bars, has lectured on tax topics before
the Tax Section of the Arizona State Bar and the Phoenix Tax Workshop.
Mr. Schiffman is a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Law
and received his Master of Law degree in Taxation from Washington
University in St. Louis.
